What vintage means to me competition

Here's a fab little ditty from Andy Boulton of Nottingham who wins one of our 'Vintage' perfumes..

Vintage style is making sure we continue to salute the fashion heroes who got it very right.

It’s the effortless cool of Steve McQueen that lives on in a well chosen pair of aviators.

It’s having the bottle to carry off the kind of garish silk scarf that gave Jagger his swagger.

It’s the marriage of impeccable tailoring and roguish dishevelment à la Burton , O Toole and Harris at their devilish best.

Most of all it’s a nod in the direction of the true pioneers and a promise to carry the torch for the golden age of style.

Chanel competition winner

I need to appologise to Etsu who entered and won one of our Chanel prizes but never got a mention on our blog! here's one of the winning images along with Etsu's favourite Coco Chanel quotes:

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same.”

“The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!”

“Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door.”

Beautiful boots and delightful dresses

I have decided my staple items for Spring/Summer 2010 are going to be dresses (of course!) and ankle boots. I found some really cute items at last weeks Leeds fair. I really wish i had bought all of the boots i spotted but they were snapped up before i got round to it grrrr! I'm not surprised though as it's rare to find such perfect and unique boots for just £25, i was very impressed. I managed to get two dresses from Lynda at 'From Vintage To Vogue' at the York fair this weekend though! 'From Vintage To Vogue' is fast becoming one of my favourite stalls, every time i look there are more gorgeous little floral dresses yum! Best of all they start from around £15... Bargain!

We're still on the road, and for all those who missed us at Leeds last week we have two more northern vintage fairs this Saturday & Sunday.

We'll be stopping off at Liverpool John Moores on Saturday 30th January from 11am - 4pm with 30 stalls of vintage clothes, accessories and homewares. We have vintage cakes by cupcake palace to boost your energy levels for the shop fest thats going to take place.

On Sunday 31st January between 10:30am - 4:30pm we will be at The Hospitium, York. Two floors of vintage clobber and a fabulous vintage tea party courtesy of the Marvelous Tea Dance Ladies.

Both of these are sale fairs so its only £1.00 on the door and all stall holders will be bringing sale rails.

Hope to see you all there..

The Big Issue in the North

Last Wednesday Judy styled a vintage photo shoot for the Big Issue Magazine and i was lucky enough to go along! Our lovely blog followers get a sneaky peak at the shoot before it's out on the streets of the north tomorrow. The images feature on the front cover of the magazine and in an article all about vintage fashion.
